OP is Looking for free labor in an industry that already excludes the poor and working class from entry. While the rich get to grow millions of dollars in profits we get 3 to six mature plants depending on 1or 2 adult households. US cannabis is pay to play if you don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars you face political judicial prosecution for growing a few pounds so you can help cover living expenses. Traveling to grow sites paying for your gas and inspecting plants for pests disease and contamination is labor. Very few if any are willing to donate precious time for nothing more than a smoke session and altruistic ideals.

I'm reading this as "if you work at a grow and they are doing shady shit, tell me" not someone looking for "free labor".

ExploitedAmerican t1_j93c1u0 wrote

He is also looking for volunteers to go inspect grow facilities for free.

darkrom t1_j93c4yl wrote

Pretty sure hes asking for people who are already in them to report back. Random people can't just walk into a grow facility to inspect it.

ExploitedAmerican t1_j93comz wrote

He told me he already has grow facilities offering to open up for walk through. And honestly in today’s climate can you honestly trust wealthy business owners to not pay employees to say there is nothing to see and all is aok? Only way to get this to work is independent auditing. Also workers in this climate fear retribution for bringing shady practices to light. I don’t see many grow workers risking their meager quality of life to expose wrong doing in any industry.

I worked for NETA in MA when they first opened. They were the first in MA. And they were full of mold, and the owners from CO pulled all sorts of shady bs. Of course we went to HR. They did nothing.

So a bunch of us just called OSHA. Because NETA was literally allowed to train the health inspector given them by the state (seeing they normally deal with restaurants and other facilities, they weren’t even sure wtf they were looking for…real, real ethical).

Before I quit, I saw PM, black mold, full plants dipped in H2O2…illegal use of Neem, just fuckery of all types.

OP is absolutely asking for work. It is stressful( demanding, and you’re often told to rugsweep everything from black mold to edibles being taken off the god damned floor.

For patients. Immunocompromised patients. As one of those people as well, it was maddening to watch.

I’d never do this work for free, but I’ll report anything suspicious I see any time. You don’t need a job for that. None of us do.

They want people to go out of their way to inspect cultivation facilities. It’s one thing if you work someplace that’s doing shady shit like that and report it to the health board/ licensing authorities. But many won’t for fear of retaliation from their employer. Ultimately unless you’re getting hired as a grunt laborer for $20 an hour or less to water plants, harvest trim and spray Chems these companies are only hiring people with useless horticulture degrees who’ve never grown cannabis in most cases have no clue about proper integrated pest management procedures and leaving people who’ve risked their freedom for decades to hone a clandestine craft out in the cold.

No thanks, this should be an industry opened to those who have earned the merit through experience and work not through a paycheck and a sketch ass handshake.

2

GoatessFrizzleFry t1_j94ox7i wrote

Oh, I fully understand that. I’m saying as someone who worked black and gray before being hired at a production facility, I’d never willfully inspect cultivation facilities for free.

The backlash of reporting at a job, where I was working in a higher paid position (not trim, not watering plants) was still horrible.

There’s just no way.

Look up sweet spot dispensary, that place has owners in South Carolina, New York, Rhode Island, a lot of fingers in that pie.

3

Swamp_yankee_ninja t1_j93w3ro wrote

At this point, grow as much cannabis as you want, or up to 99 plants to stay under the federal radar. The Rhode island judicial system ain’t going to do shit. The days of tying up the court systems is over. Consider the plant count law a recommendation and not a rule.

ExploitedAmerican t1_j93x3jh wrote

Yeah but if they want to they can screw you hard just to make an example. Too much power in the hands of the few as usual

2

Swamp_yankee_ninja t1_j93xjmb wrote

But it’s legal? How can we have legal cannabis and have a cap on how many “plants” a person can garden? Trust me every Tom, dick and Harry is going to be growing outdoors this summer. Now I’m sure they would try to make examples of it of people, but it wouldn’t make it far. The cannabis cat is out of the bag.

If you don’t value people’s time enough to believe they are worth being paid for providing a service you are no better than he Wall Street hedge fund military/ prison industry profiteers that have looted the working class and left my generation with no prospect of retirement, no ability to purchase a home, and no reason to perform labor. Seriously this guy wants free labor. Offering a smoke sesh and a shared utopian vision isn’t going to get people interested its like venue owners telling talented musicians you’ll pay them in exposure lol. Why don’t you post the conversations of people who are jumping at your offer to devalue their time and energy so we can be told to trust products grown by an exclusionary industry? How bout this, If you think dispos and cultivators are growing contaminated product then why not just tell people to grow their own or find someone who does and has clean organic flower/ concentrate instead of doing free work that will ultimately benefit those who’ve payed to play in this industry?

Sorry this is such a joke it writes itself

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

Yeah I sent you 2 pictures of flowering plants. One of the Imgur links I posted contained about 15 or so pics from a multi strain phenotype hunt I did.

What I bring to the table is over a decade of experience in soil building, full organic integrated pest management techniques as knowing how to grow high quality flower without spending hundreds of dollars on toxic nutrients and hyped up bullshit, with an in depth knowledge on Korean natural farming, recycled organic living soil and horizonal soils. If you were actually interested in organic flower you would stay away from dispensaries. I haven’t ever given a dispensary money but would have been glad to help confirm the claims of workers who called out shady practices if I was compensated fairly to do so. Sounds like you’re just going to take the word of anyone who can prove they work at a cultivation facility and send you a picture they may or may not have taken themselves.

Let me inform you.the only way this plan you have will work is if you have people to go verify claims of malfeasance independently. What are you going to do just put cultivation facilities on blast anytime you get a claim or picture of an irradiation machine? That’s not how that works. This is pretty much the same thing as journalism and you’ll have to verify your sources claims and information otherwise you’ll be a joke/ hack just spouting off unverified claims insanely ranting like you’ve accused me of doing. But any any wealthy cannabis production business will be more than able to refute your claims with far more credibility then your “haze snob and company” audit will ever have.

Anyone who has eyes can see these plants are healthy and if you tasted the dry flower in person you’d be nothing short of impressed. I don’t use this user account for anything cannabis related but your account is just like a few pics of dried flower, some rosin packages and one sad looking plant. Like you couldn’t take any time to pull those two gross looking Leaves off under the canopy?

It’s slower and I make more mistakes. You can’t deny that using both thumbs simultaneously a more accurate and quicker way to compose text. But this is irrelevant. I’ve corrected the typo and the conversation here should pertain to the ideas I’ve mentioned not the grammar used in <1% of my content.
