I think it’s appropriate that the title says “Support Group” as you’ll need one to get through the “boondoggle, no one watches soccer, something something Kurt Schilling” gauntlet.

Well there is zero truth to this quoted statement It's cool that people obviously dislike soccer but. Rhode island is one of the hottest markets in the country for soccer viewership year over year. The stadium has already sold deposits for half the stadiums capacity and we are still a year out.
We respect the negative responses as we are aware that plenty of American folks don't like the sport. But we are certainly going to prove those folks wrong soon enough.

100% agree. A soccer stadium will do fine there. People are just bent because they were one the 12 people who still went to every Pawsox game.

And my attitude to those folks is, you had a chance to keep the Pawsox in RI but then something something Kurt Schilling’ed it to Worcester.

Anyone spending any time in Central Falls, Pawtucket, or Providence simply can not miss the large Hispanic, Spanish speaking population.
Their cultural attitude towards soccer is different.
I wouldn’t be surprised if their matches routinely outdrew P-Bruin games.

I agree. People are thinking of Irish and Italian boomers when they say crap like that. A modest capacity soccer stadium would sell out all the time. If and when I move back to PVD I would totally look into season tickets.

Not a boomer though. I still find it amazing that the people who coined the term “soccer mom” are the same ones who can’t fathom their kids might have grown up to like the sport.

I think season tickets are already like 30% sold out.

There are hispanic communities that are bigger into baseball than soccer. Its a shame to lose the Pawsox just to turn around spend money on this. Then claim its in the name of affordable housing.
