If you look at your ticket, you will likely see the number 75 inside a circle near the top. That is to tell the judge your actual speed (as opposed to what the officer actually cited you for). What grounds do you propose use to contest the ticket? If you lose and the judge knows how fast you were really going, its not going to go well for you… RI does allow you to have a ticket dismissed for just court costs based on a good driving record, but I dont know how your non-moving violation would affect that.

What? no, just pay it. it'd be another thing if you weren't actually speeding or if the officer tried to get you on something worse than what actually happened

See if you can get it dismissed under the good driving record. Also, be very careful on rt4, and also on the road before the Newport bridge after the Jamestown bridge

I think the good driving record is if you've had a clean record for 5 years.

Honestly it seems like if youre not going 70-80 (sometimes faster) on rt 4 youre not keeping up with traffic. I understand the speed limit, i get it. I moved to North Kingstown about 2 months ago and i constantly get honked at and hi beams flashed at me because I'm going about 60-65.

Good driving record is 3 years. And non moving violations don't affect it. However never having another moving violation, the judge may be kind and let you slide.

In my singular experience several years ago, the traffic court judge was very lenient.

I qualified for the good driving waiver, but he was waiving other people's tickets who didn't qualify either...including one woman who had gotten another ticket within the year and was clocked doing something like 95 in a 65.

So I think it's worth a shot for OP. Be repentant and ask for the waiver in traffic court despite the lack of full history. I bet they'll be fine.

If it’s your first use your hood driving record and have it taken care of but stop speeding- coming from someone with a 3 month suspension lol

Good* 😂

At best they’ll lower the fee if you show up but that’s all showing up will get you. Also Ps you were actually speeding and in the wrong. Pay the damn ticket.

Go to traffic court, admit your guilty, and then opt to do community service. I don’t believe you can use the good driving record yet since you’ve only had your license for 2 years. But if you opt for community service, the violation won’t go on your record. Source: I’ve done this myself :)

Also,. Always use Waze and be sure to report those speed traps for the rest of us.

The bottom of the hill by where 4 meets 95 has cops there ALL the time

9/10 1st ticket is community service if contested.

Just switch insurance… also feel free to not report your “violation” haha insurance will drop you anyway if they think you are too much of a risk.

Yeah great idea Bozo. You know what happens when you lie to an insurance company, and then later file a claim? They deny it, and you're on your own. There's also a good chance you'll get blacklisted, and the only way you'll get insurance is by paying an exorbitant premium.

If it’s a material misrepresentation that would have resulted in them not otherwise insuring you, and that they could not independently verify. Neither of those apply to speeding tickets.

There is no such thing.

Not mentioning a ticket wouldn’t cause any such issue.

If you want to spew, have a clue what you’re spewing about.
