This will turn out to be a BIG money loser for the taxpayers, ala Kurt Shilling. Best of luck.

But there’s still no demand/no one will drive to it/something something Kurt Schilling.

Great asset for Pawtucket and the State. Super excited for the team and events at the stadium!

I'd be curious how many actual orders that would translate to. The deposits came to like $25 or something ridiculously cheap, right?

AttackonRetail OP t1_iwmxxck wrote

Yeah. So whether that's per seat or per order, (current ticker reads 1,250 deposits) that's 10% of the stadium seats already secured if we assume all deposits will lead to season ticket purchases.

Not a bad first day for a club that hasn't played a match yet.

GotenRocko t1_iwoc42b wrote

It's per seat but there is still no info on how much season tickets will cost so they are allowing you to use your deposit towards a single ticket if you decide not to buy season tickets, so it's pretty risk free.

How much are season tickets? I couldn’t find it in the web sitr

Total price plans haven't been announced but average USL memberships range between $100-$400. A team normally has between 15-20 home games so your PPG could range between $10-$25 bucks in current market conditions.

We'll have to wait and see if that math holds true for 2024 when the club announces more details.

Yogurtsamples t1_iwnmjkv wrote

I looked at other teams season tickets in the league and roughly $150-400 per seat depending on where in the stadium

I reserved 2 for myself! Super excited about having a soccer team in RI. Not a fan of using tax payer dollars for the stadium, but all I can do now is support it.

I feel the same way - I went to an Atlanta FC game earlier this year and if they can recreate even half of that experience it will be worth it. It was a blast.

2

buddhamanjpb t1_iwpxatn wrote

That's going to be tough. Even the Revolution can't create half of the atmosphere that Atlanta has. It's awesome down there. But it'll be fun to have a short drive to watch a soccer game at a new stadium.

frenetix t1_iwqekla wrote

Gillette Stadium is too big for the Revs. It's empty and cavernous. The new stadium will be much more appropriately sized for the crowd that will go to the matches; it will feel a lot more full and lively.

975 of those deposits are for FanDuel and DraftKings, whomever they are.

Name checks out. Was waiting for all of the Rhodents who say nobody watches soccer to come up with some MAGA-esque “fake news” claim to protect themselves from reality …

Thankfully, soccer became the US's number one sport after the 1994 World Cup just like Alexi Lalas said it would.
