So.... they're trying to increase the number of charter schools, because the teacher tenure system is too cumbersome and doesn't give the superintendent enough leeway and "leveraging technology and blended learning strategies to achieve student personalization outcomes" (i.e. having students learn on Chromebooks, instead of from teachers at least 1/2 the time). But somehow the teachers' union is "stirring up turmoil"? Sure they won't have "layoffs", but will they have a Reduction in Force when contracts end in June? (spoiler alert: yep, they will).

Except the ballot measure to revamp the school board passed in a landslide.

Oh right. Good luck with that. Let me guess, everyone on the board is a Democrat. As the democrats are in bed with the teachers unions, nothing will change in the Providence Schools. The voters in Providence are Ignorant and uninformed.

Are you including yourself in that description? You could have researched and found the actual answer, but instead you just made a guess that suits what you want to believe. It seems awfully incongruent to both perpetuate and excoriate ignorance.

No, I'm not including myself, as I agree with Mayor Smiley about the school board. The only way to fix the Providence Schools is to blow up the teachers contract and start over.
