Has anyone moved here knowing no one like I did? Did you end up meeting and making a solid friend group? If so, how so? I am a 27yo M and I haven’t met anyone yet. I work outside of Stamford so that path is a no go. I just started volunteering at an animal shelter to hopefully meet some people that way but I am physically injured right now so I can’t meet people through physical activities, mainly why I have been struggling so much. Any suggestions? Any clubs?

It’s hard, and it gets even harder as you get older if you don’t have kids (we’re in our forties and new to CT, and trying to find friends also). Best way to make friends is to do something repeatedly so you see the same people repeatedly. Volunteer, go to a repeating live music event, frequent the same bar at the same time, have coffee at the same shop, etc.

Aww bummer! That would have been great. We moved to Milford a few weeks ago. Trying to start over AGAIN in a new town!

Honestly I stopped playing with them a while ago, ended up linking back up with a group I use to play with in westchester. But there’s a WhatsApp group chat with like 200 people in it that play pickup up multiple times a week depending on who’s available. Do you want to join?

We have a semi-regular Reddit meet-up organized through this subreddit. We're up to #4. Last one was last week. Beyond that there's some trivia nights at restaurants at Bedford Street, but generally I would say it can be difficult!

i would think this would work pretty well. show up to a trivia night, scope it out and ask to join a group that seems like it might be your crowd. if all goes well you can continue to go to the same ones and after a few occurrences they’ll probably start inviting you to other things if you mesh well

Hey all, thanks for the great feedback. A lot of physical activities in the suggestions so I’m sure I’ll have an easier time when I heal up. I’ll look into the rest right now, and if anyone wants to just reach out to me directly, send me a message on here and I’ll respond :) I enjoy video games and board games, trivia, hiking, volunteering at lucky dog refuge and tons more when I’m healthy

I met my wife and a group of friends via a Run Club at Fleet Feet. Just do things you like! You’ll meet people by proxy if you’re even moderately outgoing
