Our very favorite place is Valencia Luncheria in Norwalk. We just moved to the New Haven area from Stamford so are still trying places here. There seem to be some promising spots in West Haven (we plan to try a spot called Chiquita Queen) and there are also a ton of food trucks in New Haven along the coast (called Food Truck Paradise) that we haven’t tried yet. We have also really liked Don Rene taqueria in Milford. In Stamford, Cantina Mexicana and Cinco de Mayo were our favs for tacos.

It’s hard, and it gets even harder as you get older if you don’t have kids (we’re in our forties and new to CT, and trying to find friends also). Best way to make friends is to do something repeatedly so you see the same people repeatedly. Volunteer, go to a repeating live music event, frequent the same bar at the same time, have coffee at the same shop, etc.

I hope you win. When I was a teacher more than a decade ago, in Texas, the most we ever did was make the kids sit at the side on a bench (outside, not inside) for maybe 5 minutes of recess. And then they were allowed to play with the rest of the kids. And this was only for extremely serious disciplinary problems. It was super rare.

Ignore that person OP. I’ve done this exact same thing before (same sort of post on a site like this, same feelings of embarrassment about it, etc.). I’m 42F and married but I’m happy to be a person to chat with if you need an ear. I’ve done a lot of therapy in my life and in fact have a telehealth appt with my out of state therapist on Friday.

We are new to CT and don’t have any friends here. We’re moving to Milford this weekend. Feel free to DM anytime. All of my friends live in my phone these days and they are both male and female.

We have had a horrific time at Element One (Bozzuto). Like, the worst experience we’ve ever had in an apartment in 2+ decades of renting. We broke our lease and are leaving soon. I feel like I need to sell my left kidney to pay all the fees, but it’s that bad.

I will third the sentiment that these aren’t luxury. They’re cheaply constructed. The building I’m in is flimsy, has constant maintenance problems, and is LOUD. I call it lipstick on a pig. It’s also the most I’ve ever paid for rent in my entire life, with the least in return for my money.

Edit to add: Do not drive to the city. Ride the train. You will also have to pay a hefty amount to park your car at a complex.
