I also have two cats. I've always treated them with respect and kindness and it shows in their friendly character. If you treat any living thing this way you will be rewarded.

I think that's the truth behind the OP, if you're able to put someone else first and show you can consider their needs at least the same as you consider yours, then you can probably apply that instinct to a small human as well.

I didn't choose to be a "Cat Daddy". My cat chose me when I was fostering. When she figured out she was going back she put up a big stink. I couldn't send her back after that.

I chose to rescue a cat, but my cat chose me when I went to the adoption day.

I'm her caretaker and roommate, and I try my best to look after her.

I don't know that I'd make a good parent, but I'm trying my best with her.

I went to the shelter, saw an 8-year old black cat who’s been brought in by realtor (found him abandoned in a foreclosure), and brought him home as soon as his vet checks were done. Took him a bit to realize he was finally “home,” but after that, he’s been quite affectionate. Just have to let them get comfortable at their own pace.
