Hey everyone! Currently seeking help and if anyone can send me the link or the right direction to go to regarding meal penalties.

I work over 12 hour days sometimes with no lunch, i just moved here and don’t have the knowledge of workers laws yet. What is the meal penalty rate calculations?

You are required to be paid for a 15-minute break for each 4 hours worked. Your employer may require you to remain on the premises during this break.

You are required to be offered a 30-minute un-paid meal break for every 5 hours worked in a shift. Your employer may not require you to remain on the premises during this break.

These rules tend to get wishy-washy if you are not a traditional hourly employee. If you are salaried or piece rate, they can be applied to your work/pay in different ways.

But no, there are no pay rates for meals.

Document it and whatever you do, do not go to HR or anyone within the company.

Amazon went back to the 10 minute useless break. It was 15 mins during the pandemic. They are strict about the 30 min meal break. Clock in /out for the 10min break. You can’t even walk to the bathroom and back in 10 mins.
