I was about to say this. They literally don't care.
I got hit & run in a parking lot ($2300 worth of damage to my BMW) and the store said I needed police to watch the cameras to get the footage. I called WPD the next day and told them the exact date, time, and location of the incident and the officer basically said “na lol” and came to my house and wrote me a police report to give to my insurance
Can you sign in and disable the phone so no one can use it? Then send all your information to a computer? I'm not tech savvy at all, but wish I could help.
Thank you all for the comments.
The phone was reported stolen to Apple, AT&T, and I placed the IMEI number on a blacklist, this will insure the phone can not be used with any sim card or carrier in the future.
I will be checking FB and craigslist for the Iphone, but at this point, the value is $200-$300 and it is probably wiped, there is no reason in going to look for it again.
The phone is actually still pinging to the home currently.
I emailed the landlord and owner of the property for assistance. NO police or questions asked, just data that needs to be reached.
Go back to the house with an angry mob with torches and threaten, return the phone or we burn the house down and plunder and pillage anything that’s left.
Or do the old brick thru a window trick with a note on it. Return my phone I know where you live. Give it back or I’ll take it back. Make sure you take a Polaroid picture of them sleeping and include that on the brick.
Really tho call every pawn shop and let them know if iPhone model —— is trying to be pawned its stolen. And to reach you at, let’s say your moms number.
Call Wpd non emergency and file a police report, get the sterling address on record that it’s a piece of shit that lives there.
And you know just deactivate the phone, transfer everything thru the cloud and cut your losses. Next time leave your phone in the car or wear something with a zipper pocket to hold the phone in. Or have a friend hold it while you fly down those vert ramps and stuff.
Sorry for your loss. Idk why ppl are such trash in this city.
If WPD won't help, do not try to get your phone back yourself. The best you can do is disable it.
Huh. I’ve definitely heard them on the scanner app following up on stolen phones and devices by locations being tracked 🤷♀️ maybe it depends upon the day or who answers the call. Note to self to figure out how all the disabling remotely works.
Honestly the best bet would be to stake out the building. If anyone leaves or enters that you recognize from the skatepark will likely be or know the one who took it.

That seems like speculation. Are you sure that specific person did it?
vigilante stalkers are not the solution to any problem, this is stupid.
Good thing there’s cops around so it doesn’t have to escalate to vigilantism
too bad the cops don't give a shit about anything other than arresting fentanyl dealers
they barely give a shit about that lol
it's the only thing they have to brag about
Good thing the cops are doing their duty and getting OP’s phone back!
too bad the cops don't care about doing their duty, either. it's almost like this town has no real community and no effective government.
So you’re saying we should take justice in our hands then
no, obviously not. if I were, I wouldn't have sarcastically quipped about vigilantism and stalking being good. learn to read. or are you a cop trying to entrap people in a post about cops not being able to recover stolen property from idiots?

you sound like you're advocating terrorism, vigilantism, or stalking. i'd rather sound stupid than dangerous. :)
Could you try and talk to a lawyer and make a court case out of it? Stealing is illegal, after all, and I think you have sufficient proof since you can track the phone.

Your life is not worth a phone. I’m sorry this shitty person stole your phone.

Good luck, wpd doesn't give a shit about anything.
