When they are this young they don't have teeth. So they don't bite Mama's teats. The sucking is really pretty vigorous as I recall from long ago.

I'm 100% sure are born with milk teeth, but only on the lower jaw. I guess the vigorous feeling comes from the upper jaw which hasn't teeth (the dental pad)....
