I wonder why there’s a cop on the corner of Charles and E. Mt Royal ave every night when I’ve witnessed no less than 4 people run the red while making a left from the right lane in the past month.

Useless.

to the person who responded to this comment with “they’re there for crime not traffic violations” and deleted it:

  1. Running a red light can have pretty horrible repercussions when it occurs at a busy intersection with students and other people crossing Charles Street all the time. Especially at night.

  2. If you think putting the lights on, pulling through an intersection and giving someone a ticket would magically open up the flood gates from crime to occur on the other side of the intersection, I have a bridge to sell you.

  3. Picking and choosing what rules and/or laws you enforce is exactly what makes people feel entitled to do it in the first place. Traffic enforcement works in several ways, one of which is deterrence.

Ah yes the old "Baltimore left" I call it. My favorite though is when at the red light you see the driver make a right turn then immediately a u turn then another right to effectively avoid the red light.

Ah yes, the code of honor. I won’t run a red light but I’ll make a right on red, hook a u-turn and go through a green light. Beautiful.
