I haven't read the book, and the movie was okay, but it bothers me that the premise of these kinds of stories are based on the debunked notion that we only use "10% of our brains" and that we have some hidden superpower within us.
I know it's supposed to be science fiction, but too many people really believe that. It bugs me.

The book actually went into deep detail about the drug's affects. It basically acts as a "cleaner" version of something along the lines of Ritalin. The main character wasn't invincible and still did dumb stuff out of pride or fear.
I think the book actually came out around the same time kids were getting overdiagnosed with ADHD.
