How did Twitter fall that low? is it really all Elon Musk?

This data is prior to Musk's acquisition of Twitter. Twitter has always struggled with user engagement.

In many poor countries, your 3g package includes free Facebook so everyone uses it

Did not know that, thanks!
Also why, what’s Zuck’s scam/ endgame?

Google built its empire by being the starting point of the internet for a generation of people. Facebook has replaced that for a billion low-income people who experience the internet entirely through cheap Android phones, and rakes in the ad revenue accordingly. Facebook is the internet for these folks.

True. For years people have been saying Facebook is dying. I remember having an argument with a colleague who was very convinced that Google+ would wipe out Facebook. Facebook is a force in many countries, it is a lifeline for small one-person businesses. I outgrew my Facebook days, but I like to think it's the only social media that's actually "social" (own opinion). People are free to post whatever they want, and they don't have to be an 'expert' in this or that, they are there to have fun. The other sm just brings the same stress people are trying to escape, LinkedIn is an extension of work - people have to pretend to be professional, Twitter users think they are more "classy" than anyone else and Instagram and Tiktok - I don't know even what to say about those.

Guess it’s economies of scale, poor people aren’t usually the most desired demographic for advertisers.

Why do you think Facebook was trying to launch their own balloon based Global Internet service

For these people Facebook is synonymous with internet

Twitter has always been surprisingly small.
I think it is just not nearly as popular outside of the English speaking world.
Or maybe people just mostly see tweets shared on other social media rather than using twitter directly so it's impact is bigger than what its active user numbers imply.

I guess active users is posting something. Me and many other people are 99% of the time just reading.
