Still, there doesn’t seem to be too much sauce, something I anticipate by putting the beans in the fridge overnight, so they’re more solid.

Full Scottish breakfast usually has slices of haggis, lorne (square) sausage and tattie scone. I've also noticed our black pudding is sometimes a bit different to the ones you get in England.

We also sometimes have fried fruit pudding or fruit dumpling. Fruit pudding is like a suet sausage with currants and stuff in it and fruit dumpling is more like a cake.

19

one-off-one t1_iy12yhl wrote

It’s white pudding a lot of times instead of black pudding if that’s what you mean.

2

Waqqy t1_iy1t62k wrote

Nah you typically get Stornoway black pudding in a Scottish which I think might be a bit different from regular

3

EduinBrutus t1_iy3c29w wrote

Doesnt have to be Stornoway black pudding.

Just any regular black pudding without huge lumps of fat like they seem to eat in England.

1

egg1st t1_ixzul5s wrote

That plate had lorne sausage, hagis and potato cake, which you don't normally find on an English breakfast. Both the lorne sausage and hagis are very Scottish. The potato cake can be found in northern England and Ireland in addition to Scotland.

Haggis and Potato Scone. No toast. Should also be streaky bacon not back "bacon" which is basically thinly sliced gammon and not bacon at all. But that seems to be a fight thats been lost over the years.

This makes me so homesick I just looked up where I can order lorne sausage, haggis, fruit pudding and Stornoway black pudding online for home delivery. I was so happy to find I can get several breakfasts worth for under Β£30 only to get to check out and find they have a Β£75 minimum order for home delivery. Sad now :( I miss just being able to go to the nearest corner shop for a breakfast pack on a Sunday morning.

7

popupsforever t1_iy197ic wrote

You can get Lorne sausage and haggis in most big supermarkets if you're in England. Fruit pudding and stornoway black you'll still struggle with tbf, but you could make fruit pudding yourself if you fancy.

Ironic, really, since my theory is that hash browns were first imported into England, and hence the Full English, through the agency of the well known Scot, Ronald MacDonald.

Haggis is also pretty versatile as well.

I've had it the traditional style, with the peppercorn sauce, neeps and all.

I've also had it rolled in oats and baked as well.

There's always the possibility of it being used as stuffing for cornish hens too.
