It’s a subscription model. Hard pass.

Where did you see it was a subscription model?

Not in this article lmao. This article lists a clear one time price.

The subscription is optional. Few games (if any) will require online play. Most games will have offline, single-player modes. Similar to Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus, the optional Omni Online subscription is needed for online gameplay, connectivity with friends, and participating in online prize contests.

Isn't this just the same as the Kat walk, which has been available to the public for awhile

Yeah, but locked down to a proprietary headset with a subscription software service, so worse.

We believe that most consumers want a streamlined experience that is quick and easy to use, similar to a games console, which is why it comes bundled with the excellent Pico Neo 3 Pro headset, with our software preinstalled. Although we are not trying to compete with a device that acts only as a peripheral (with the limitations that come with that approach), we will still have emulation software as well - so, the best of both worlds.

I'm curious what type of research you obtained to come to this conclusion.
I asked 38 vr friends (vr chat) a question:
"The Virtuix Omni treadmill doesn't work with your valve index or PCVR (steam); you pay more money for the treadmill + a new vr headset. Is it worth it?"
No, 38 times.
I also heard "why wouldn't you just get a Kat walk?" 4 times.
RemindMe! 1 year "Check Virtuix's Success"

Most consumers don't use PCVR. If you showed the difference between the two types of product and the experience (hardware setup, software and game configuration, social features, etc.), to a less focused group, I'm sure you would have got a different result. As I mentioned earlier though, there will be emulation software as well, which is a different proposition from the one you presented.

I love VR but this treadmill bullshit is such a gimmick and literally going nowhere.

We already have 300,000 accounts (and growing rapidly) from our 70+ Omni Arena locations, and we're seeing incredible demand for the system. We recommend trying Omni Arena if you have the chance!

For people who struggle to find time to both play games and exercise, a VR treadmill makes perfect sense. With Omni One, you could explore a large open world game and exercise at the same time, which you couldn't do in a 3m x 3m space. And, as often gets mentioned, you won't have to worry about running into a wall again!

It varies! Usually robots, zombies, pirates, or elite soldiers. I have also run from bulls.

What happened to turning on the TV and just pounding on a regular treadmill?

This isn’t a treadmill for fitness so much as it is for immersion in VR.
