So i don't know of this is even the right place to ask such a thing but. I'm trying to make a gaming room. I was wondering what would be the best way to hook up 2 consoles and get a better wifi connection in a room across my house from where my router is? Just get 2 50m ethernet cables or what are my options?

I would work with Ethernet if possible, otherwise a powerline might do the trick.

My setup at home is -> Router/Modem -> 3 Deco Mesh in Access Point mode, 2 wired, 1 wired through powerline. Not ideal.. but for now it works.

Would i be able to just pull 1 cable and hook up everything that way? I don't know anything about these things.

Get one ethernet cable connected to that room and then put an ethernet switch there. You can connect multiple network devices on it. Even an access point for wifi.

Most wifi routers can be switched to access point mode, or AP mode, which makes it a wifi point but doesn't interfere with the primary router. If it has ports it is both.

One of the ports will take the cable you run to it, the rest can be used for other devices.

The simplest is to have the wifi different than the main one in the house, if you name it the same most will clash and not play nice, or I haven't had luck.

Going mesh helps with this last item, I have all 3 mesh points wired and providing the same wifi, but you would want a switch for the consoles then.

Hardwire everything, my Xbox sitting 8 feet from my wifi point had strange issues using WiFi, where plugged in never a hiccup.

This is absutely true.

I used a router as an AP a long time ago and currently changes everything to Ubiquity Unifi switches, routers and AP's.

But for OP Inwould recommend to go the normal way. I dont think he is into networking, so easy would be best.

Yes easy is the best hha :) thanks for the info. So ill probably just get 1 ethernet cable to the room and then get a switch or an extra router. What cable would be sufficiant?

Get at least cat5e and go for a Switch to connect everything to. You dont need to configure anything that way.

To be honest I am not that into other types. Laat I used before Ubiquity was Linksys, but Netgear seems to be good too. Maybe someone else can add to this.

Very true, just wanted to put out information, but I agree, a basic gigabit switch and hardwire is better and simpler for this particular case :)
