Most wifi routers can be switched to access point mode, or AP mode, which makes it a wifi point but doesn't interfere with the primary router. If it has ports it is both.

One of the ports will take the cable you run to it, the rest can be used for other devices.

The simplest is to have the wifi different than the main one in the house, if you name it the same most will clash and not play nice, or I haven't had luck.

Going mesh helps with this last item, I have all 3 mesh points wired and providing the same wifi, but you would want a switch for the consoles then.

Hardwire everything, my Xbox sitting 8 feet from my wifi point had strange issues using WiFi, where plugged in never a hiccup.
