fwiw fresh central grocery near stop and shop has a good Indian grocery selection and you'll likely have luck, if you want to stay in the heights.

yup i've seen fresh tumeric root many times at 99ranch, it's along the left wall when you walk in along with herbs in a plastic-wrapped foam plate
