Hi! I’m driving to New Jersey from Montreal (Canada), and I have tickets to the Rangers game at Madison Square Garden. I’m looking to park somewhere and take the train into the city. HELP.
Do this instead Secaucus Junction
County Ave, Secaucus, NJ 07094
Coming to JC then back up is a bit out of your way.
You’ll save maybe 45 min this way. The secaucus train station has a train to Manhattan every few minutes and it has a parking lot. And it’s less driving for you and more direct to Madison square garden.
Newport mall has cheap parking. Across the street from the path train. They said they're driving to jersey city. So it might be near their location anyway.
And they'll skip the road traffic caused by the game. As well as toll fees and extravagant parking prices. Might get there even faster!
Just leave your car parked wherever you're staying in Jersey City, then take the PATH train to 33rd St in New York.
If you're staying somewhere else in New Jersey then better for /r/NewJersey, most likely you can just drive to your nearest NJ Transit station & take the train to Penn Station.
I’d park within a few blocks of a PATH stop in NJ (Grove Street, Hoboken, Newport, etc.) then follow signs to take the 33rd street train.
What day and time is the game?
Where are you staying in NJ?
What time is the game? There’s a lot of street parking near MSG that becomes free parking after 7pm. Find an open spot that has the 7pm parking at 6:30pm, and hang out in your car for the 30 minutes. If you do this, DO NOT leave your car until 7pm, the NYPD tow trucks will tow your car a minute before 7pm
Madison Square Garden is at NY Penn Station, there is no service from JC to that location. Better to park at Secaucus.
The path train to 33rd then walk a few blocks?
How is that a better option?
I agree, no reason to drive into JC from that direction if you're just catching a train anyway.
Why are you acting like walking from Herald Square to MSG is such an ordeal?
Why are you acting like its easier for someone already driving to come into JC, find parking, take the super slow PATH train (via Hoboken probably), and then walk a block....
Versus then simply stopping at Secaucus and going direct to MSG?
Use SpotHero.
West side park and ride in jersey city. I live across the street. They don’t give tickets so don’t bother paying for it.

From there you can take the train to exchange place, then transfer, and it’s one stop to the city. Good luck!

There's garages in Manhattan you can park in.
