I am also a RVRB user! Love this site, I think it was a new version of JQBX or a re-brand or something but this is a great app.

What room do you frequent? If any?

I agree, I spend too much time on this site :)

Is it the same rooms as jqbx? Or a new site entirely?

Majority of the community are old-JQBX users, the app itself has been made BY the JQBX community. Myself included. JQBX got sold a while ago so we made a new home with the things we loved from JQBX and things that JQ didn't have that we wanted!

a lot of the users are from Turntable! This app is relatively new and the devs are constantly pushing out new updates and features

Turntable.fm still exists fyi

Yep! But its just a bit dated and doesn't work with spotify.

I have actually recently used the OG Turntable.fm to watch old tv episodes that are on youtube with friends!

They also have an updated version of turntable.tv. It’s at tt.live!

JQBX combined/sold to Turntable and tt.live is their offspring.

It was gone but came back recently! They use YouTube so they have songs that Spotify has lost. Thats what’s driving me away now. I’m often in the 70s room there trying to liven things up. Great to have an option for Spotify users but tt.fm is still so far subscription free - they just request donations to certain charities sometimes and that’s it!

Agreed. It is an amazing way to find new music! A great community of people too!

bunix t1_j9ujm4x wrote

me as a musician, how could I use the app to share my music?

3

saks111 t1_j9ukvj5 wrote

You could join a room, introduce yourself and play some of your music. As long as you aren’t spammy with it, people won’t mind. It really isn’t designed to promote yourself though.

bender-fender OP t1_j9ul327 wrote

You could also join the discord for RVRB, there is a channel there for self promotions!

3

bender-fender OP t1_j9ukhlx wrote

Sure! If your music is on Spotify you can add it to your queue and play it here. Some rooms have their own rules about self-promotion but its not disallowed! We love to hear new music.

Looks cool! Is this desktop only or is there a mobile app?

3

bender-fender OP t1_j9vc56g wrote

There’s no app, but you can listen and login to the site on a mobile browser!

dustinsmusings t1_j9vrrhm wrote

Any way to use this with my Google speaker/assistant?

smokeweedtilyoudie t1_j9w7wfq wrote

Play from a browser on a desktop that has Spotify installed. From the Spotify app you can then choose whatever output device you want.

I left it playing on the browser and went for a drive. Spotify on my phone was still syncing with it so I could listen in my car! So cool!
