My partner just opened his own construction business after working under a different company for several years. Of course, I want to support him as much as I can and so I would like to ask for any and all advices, suggestions, and two-cents anyone may have.

I have researched this matter far and wide before coming here, but I still wanted to ask r/Massachusetts to hopefully gain the insight of those closer to home

Depends on the scale that your partner is doing and the clientele you are trying to attract. Best place to start small or large would be to make at the very least a barebones website.if you want smaller jobs post it on community boards (craigslist and social media where it is allowed) and such. Bigger jobs require more visibility through advertised Internet exposure which unfortunately is usually more of a matter of money.

Create a FB page and join the surrounding towns FB pages. People post constantly for work to be done, just have to stay active getting the name out there.

Ask him to describe the projects he loves best.

Do FB, google & Reddit searches to locate posts from people looking to have that type of work done. Make a list of the words they use to describe the work, the questions they ask in posts and Google search terms they use.

Create a FB page for his business and craft posts using the words/questions/search terms from your research including before/after images of the work - and his location. Bonus points for video clips.

If you see posts in local FB or next door groups have him answer questions or drop a link to his FB page.

Triple bonus points if you can build him a website and create posts using the same tactics.

It might be a bit challenging, I dunno about other home owners but I check what permits people have pulled, how many jobs they've done a year which is easy to do in Boston. If that number is 0, I'd go with someone else. You might want to try to do some small jobs on the cheap, and get people to hype you up on NextDoor or something.

FB/TikTok/Instagram and youtube shorts. Make a presence and make some non cringe memes. Join a bunch of local pages and boomers will be like "I need someone to do XYZ I don't know where to look since there's no yellow pages" and swoop in with the 20 other contractors wives who will shill the husbands company.
