I need a real ID and the RMV website is telling me they have no appointments. Do I really need to have one, or can I just walk in and wait a few hours? Thanks!

AAA will also do the Real ID
I’m a member of AAA. I go to their sites and they do almost everything. Just find a friend or family member that has a membership. I registered my car and renewed my license there. Not sure what they don’t do, but I’m sure you can look it up on line. I’ve never had to wait.
When I was at the Pittsfield DMV about a month ago, they had a line for walk-ins, and anytime someone with an appointment arrived they went right to front of that line. So you could go with no appointment but would likely be waiting for a while
I haven’t set foot in an RMV in over 10 years. AAA has been worth the price for that reason alone.
?? MA don t make things easy that's for sure!! I was going to change my Boat reg from NH to MA. But they such pain in ass I didn t bother. I now see why so many register out of state!
Its up to the employees at Taunton. We used to have a great RMV system.......
quick note.....boats are not registered at the RMV in MA
Its so much better to make an appointment if you can
I know my first boat I registered in ma. what A pain in ass!!had take day off work go to Bostin wait in line at MA Enlivenment building They tell me I have to walk up street to anther building pay sales tax first .So i do that go back wait in line again! than have to to Registry for trailer than A store to buy boat numbers....My second boat I bought in NH they offer to register it for me I say no, Than I sit n dock watching all, boats go by in pond with NH on them was 50/50 Than I see on news big story Sen. Kerry has his Yacht register in RI I say what am I A sucker I call Dealer said Registry please...2 years ago was thinking getting slip in ocean figure better register it here..couldn t get hold of any one on phone to ask .Or infor on what need to if I d have to pay sales tax now or what...So I gave up saw that half people who had rented docks had boats regs in NH to. So screw MA. I tried
I register in RI also. Its where I boat and also so much easier. Cheaper is great also.
Went a month ago. If you have something short, they'll tell you to go do it online. If you have something that will take longer, they'll tell you to make an appointment. I would not recommend walking in.

If you get there as they open. You can get a walk in appointment. I'm not sure about real ID. I believe you can get one but they are mailed to you a week or 2 later.
