Usually the crazy noises are foxes -but something makes me think maybe an owl, despite not having heard this particular sound from them.
I have seen some juveniles make a weirdish sound that was a BIT like this.

Not a fisher. Fishers don't scream as New Englanders commonly believe. This is as close as they get.

How else do you think Boston avoids getting swallowed up by the ocean? Unholy rituals. Fishers are the scapegoat.

Maybe if they've been smoking a pack a day for 30 years lol, but it's definitely not the "banshee" scream most people say it is

Don't worry about those sounds, they're harmless. Just, uh, keep your doors locked. For peace of mind, y'know

It’s a fox in heat (females are called vixens) probably won’t hear it for more than a day or two. They’re freaky sounding but nothing compared to cougars in heat, they’re terrifying

They make strange loud sounds - I get this all the time whenever I had my dogs around my fenced in ground pool and the next part of my property is the CT river and the park behind me - we hear it at night whenever we re at the pool

This video covers pretty much every fisher sound you could be hearing (be warned the wind gets really loud at points so careful if you're using headphones lol). Basically deep roaring growls, a demonic version of ferret dooking, and some otter squawking, in addition to that first video I just sent.

Yup and they sound like woman/child screaming in agony hear them a lot when they fight with the raccoons while they try to get into my chickens hut that’s when I let the hound out that been bear hunting trained to push them on if I can’t get shot on them with my 22. Very mean animals.
Mustelafan t1_j4m5w54 wrote
Hell if you don't want em get one in a live trap and I'll take it off your hands! I love fishers. Totally beautiful animals and yes, pretty feisty. Takes a lot to survive in those woods as a weasel with pretty much no body fat! A couple days without food and you're a goner, I'd be pissed off too lol
drjoker83 t1_j4q09dd wrote
Yeah I don’t have a live trap I usually just pop them off with my 22 if they get to bothering and I’m only allowed to shoot them because they are a nuisance to my property but that what ya get I guess when you live at bottom of mountain with brook that runs straight out the bottom of the mountain where all the animals graze for water. You name it I’ve seen it by that watering hole. Oddest sight to see bear on one side while deer on other drinking water together.
