I was just wondering if there's an insider out there who knows whether James Hong was the one who chose his codename to be "Alpha", and whether he chose that codename as a throwback to when he worked as voice actor for the 2010 video game "Alpha Protocol". He voice acted a the head of the Chinese Triads, Hong Shi, and the videogame used his likeness when making the character model.

Of course, maybe the writers just chose that name because they needed a name that implied he was the leader.

Edit: so alpha isn't exactly the codename but it's just part of the nomenclature for everyone from the Alpha verse, my bad. Maybe James Hong had a hand in picking the alternative universe's name so he could be called Alpha Gong Gong? Probably a far fetched chance XD

They came from the Alpha Verse, meaning everyone that joined them about halfway through the film was an Alpha version of their normal selves.

Hard to say who picked though.

From Wikipedia for "Alpha":

>As the first letter of the alphabet, Alpha as a Greek numeral came to represent the number 1. Therefore, Alpha, both as a symbol and term, is used to refer to the "first", or "primary", or "principal" (most significant) occurrence or status of a thing.

Since they were the first "verse" to make contact with another, they became the "Alpha Verse". Same reason games/software are first "released" in an alpha-state.
