Who is your Favourite director? Mine is David Lynch. I love all his movies he has such a unique style of story telling and his movies have you fixated on them for days/weeks after watching. Can't remember how long Mulholland Drive was on my mind after watching it. I also respect a director who writes/co-writes his own movies like I do with singers who write there own songs. Also I think he's a fascinating man I could literally watch him explain how to make a cup of coffee and I would be mesmerized. So who is your favourite director?

Kubrick and Bergman.

Bergman's ability to make incredibly engaging, engrossing movies about depressed people who sit around having conversations is unreal.

I don’t know if I have one. I love Martin Scorsese, but I almost like him more as a public academic than a director (though I love his films).

I’ve been on a Fellini binge lately, but while his good films are masterpieces, there’s a fair amount of stuff I don’t respond to.

I think David Lynch is great, but outside of Mulholland Drive, I have to be in the mood.

Billy Wilder might be a good answer, but I’m not sure his highs counteract the lows.

Wong Kar Wai? Guillermo Del Toro? Again, too few films that I love, but the ones I love, I love deeply.

It’s really hard, so I’m much happier making top 5 or 10 lists.

Quentin Tarantino, but not necessarily for his movies (which I love), but the films and filmmakers he exposed me to who would go on to be some of my true favorites(Fulci, Bava, Godard, Fellini, Lenzi, Argento, Trenchard-Smith, etc.)

Nobody matches up to Kubrick in scope, ambition, or talent. My lord I wish that man could have lived to be 200.

If the slow pacing of 2001 didn't bother you, I loved "Barry Lyndon", a slow, almost dreamily-paced period drama about an ambitious, self-absorbed young lad and his adventures across Europe. The art direction and photography on this movie is simply astounding, every scene resembling a literal portrait from that period. An absolute feast for the eyes.

Also The Shining (one of the most analyzed movies ever), Full Metal Jacket, Dr Strangelove, the guy could do anything.

I like it, I don't love - in fact, although this was my favorite Kubrick movie at one time, it's the one film of his I think aged most poorly.

Additionally there's the fact that the movie ends after the book's Chapter 20, and having read the book, Chapter 21 really changes the whole ending :)

Mamoru Hosoda. Wolf Children and Belle are two of my most favorite movies. Can't think of any other director except Chris Nolan.
