How though? What did he do wrong other than at the end when he snapped? Being in a room alone with her? Every accusation made by Carol were MAJOR stretches. Twisting words and actions in order to be "technically right" on paper, but not representative of what actually happened. He made no sexual advances at any point ever.

I believe she knew exactly what she was doing with the legal weasel words, and I believe Macy called it out perfectly in the very beginning when he said he thinks she's just "angry".

Carol, to me, seemed like she was angry at either Macy personally for not understanding his class, or education in general for always being too hard for her to understand. She was lashing out and wanted a sense of control over something she historically struggled with and had trouble "keeping up" with. Her actions and intentionally destroying Macy's life were just methods of feeling power in an arena she typically feels powerless in. It's kind of demonstrated by her ridiculous demands at the end about what books she personally wants the school to allow and not allow. She wanted to feel "in control" and wanted to get rid of anything she didn't like or understand.

I don't think she was acting in good faith, I believe the Professor was acting in good faith and was genuinely trying to help her up until she "turned" on him and started trying to destroy him.
