The taxes alone on weed in NH would remedy at least 50% of infrastructure issues without raising taxes-or maybe (thinking outside the box here) invest the weed tax dollars into a fund to pay for climate change damage. Damage is only going up from here . . . .my head just imploded!😮

I didn’t say it wasn’t. I’m not a fan of our two-party system whatsoever. It polarizes nuanced issues far too much and reduces the chances of enacting actual change in policy. My point is that comparing the percentage of overall votes for a candidate and their constituents’ percentage of support for a single issue is pointless and only serves to create more polarization.

We could also compare Sununu’s 57% victory to NH residents’ support for abortion, constitutional carry laws, tax policies, or anything else.

The answer to deciding individual issues is public referendums to the state constitutional amendments. Our ability to change our state laws should not be blockaded by any party.

It is, ideally there'd be a way to have representative voting on issues, but that's logistically a lot harder so you get package deals and parties.

Couldn’t they just legalize it even if there are no dispensaries? Like no fines for possessing it or bringing it back from out of state. I understand they want to have a monopoly on the sales but it is already being sold out of state. Just make it 100% legal so people can continue to purchase out of state without being a criminal

It’s a federal law that makes it illegal to cross state lines with it, I believe. NH has decriminalized possession (below a certain threshold), but the Feds still govern interstate commerce.

They won’t pass it until it’s taken off the schedule 1 list and the banking issue is resolved.

Then they’ll sell it thru the state liquor stores and then undercut the surrounding states just like they do now with liquor and get everyone to cross state lines to buy it here.

It’s more of a long time strategy as we all know federal legalization is inevitable. If they let private dispensary’s in now, they’ll be harder to kick out later.

I am doubtful this plan will work well in NH. People I talk to about dispensaries care about the product and service they provide. ME has a whole heap of quality dispensaries mere minutes from the NH seacoast, some with their own white labeled top-quality bud that sells for $35 1/8oz before volume discounts. I don’t see NH being able to siphon enough traffic by competing on price nor quality.

I could be wrong, and would be pleasantly surprised if that is the case.

I know $35 a slice sounds cheap but we’re talking about a product that’s actually easier to grow than tomatoes. It can come down a lot more and still be profitable.

Meanwhile the private dispensary’s you love so much are gouging us cause we’re used to paying more when it was illegal.

It is just a plant in the end.

I’m not disagreeing with you, I think I just have a different perspective because I’m interested in a premium product/service. At any rate I hope NH can legalize so we can capitalize on lost revenue from such late market entry. Cheers.

Some people also don't seem to think about scale of these operations when they see some of the prices. Yeah, it may be a bit overpriced right now, but until it can be federally legalized, I don't think there will be a massive shift in prices.

There's a big upfront investment for the facilities and staff that needs to be made up. Plus, many law firms are incorporating cannabis strain intellectual property law into their services. So, growers that want to avoid a costly (potentially ruinous) lawsuit pay royalties to grow some of our favorite strains.

The best analogy I can think of is the industrialized agriculture industry. They can operate across state lines with large reaching and complex distribution networks that allow them to operate with smaller profit margins. (I agree with the points you've brought up, just adding food for thought).

Edit: btw, which dispo do you hit up? I go to herbal pathways in Berwick. They have quarters as low as $45 after taxes. Prices vary depending on which grower it came from.

I got like 5 dispensaries within a stones throw of my city haha. And I give 0 fucks about NH cops and crossing borders. My only issue is home cultivation I would love to be able to grow my own plants

That's the only reason I want legal cannabis in NH, I could care less about being able to buy it because I can already buy it I drive to Maine I have a place that's 10 minutes from my house, and it's a regular a routine to me and grocery shopping or doing laundry.

We will not see NH become better until those who don't want progress are gone. Sununu keeps defunding the public education and is in favor of private Christian education. It's sickening. In 2024, NH residents better vote this clown out. The concept of insanity is repeating the action and expecting change. I honestly can't believe we have death by snusnu for a leader of NH.

Right now I'm paying pretty hefty prices in Berwick Maine, would love to find some cheaper alternatives you just can't always trust Google or Weedmaps, it's better to hear it from people
