I’m not sure if this is the best place for this, but my company is looking to hire someone in New Hampshire. The position is in operations and technology.
It is a hybrid job, so the ideal candidate would already be living here.
I’ve posted the job on LinkedIn and I am getting a ton of replies for people “willing to relocate”.
Is that what you are seeing? Where are you all finding good, serious candidates that we can interview?
Main office is near Berlin NH. Not super relevant as we don’t work out of the office. Travel to Maine and Vermont is common so someone centrally located in the state would be great.
Salary is $45-55k plus benefits. No degree needed. You do need to have technical background like networking and good communication skills.
That pay is a bit low for a travel job with networking background, unless you're talking entry level stuff.
This is what I needed to hear. I’m not in charge of setting the salary, but needed evidence that it was low.
Adding in the benefits would cover another $10k.
Edit: oh, travel is reimbursed and hotel stays are 100% covered by the company. I’ve been here 10 years and it’s not a major part of the job. I’m mostly remote. We also don’t need someone to set up access points or firewalls, just know the basics so as to avoid network conflicts. Someone who can be trained as well.
"Benefits adding $10K" isn't really a thing. Cash in hand is the salary, everything else is to clinch the deal. You could have the best health insurance in the country, but if the salary isn't livable, it doesn't matter.
Experienced network admin salary should be at least $60K in NH, without travel. That's before you get into certifications and specializations. Same job in Boston is easily $100K, for example.
Yea, then salary is a bit low. If travel is comped, that's good, but pay will determine the experience you get. For that, you would be looking at someone either new to 2 years max experience in the field.
For reference, a friend went from $54k as a network admin to 100k after 4 years in the field. I would do some research as rent/housing turns NH into a beginning HCOL state.

This is nowhere near competitive for someone with networking experience unfortunately. Comparable salaries are doing data entry and basic office management. You might want to talk to local associates degree programs for entry level applicants at this range.

I would look into an agency. Theres one in lebanon i believe that an old company i worked for went through. I have a degree and advanced metal manufactoring and welding and through an agency i have landed some decent jobs. Some of them are job specific as well.
What agency is that? My contract is ending and I starting the search for a new position. Somewhere between Finance/Accounting, and Data Analytics
That's about half the market rate i go for as an operations manager in NH
It’s not for an operations manager. It’s for an assistant in the operations arm. I would also imagine that depending on the company, some operations manager jobs are more stressful than others. This is a M-F, 8-4. No after hour emergencies. Mostly WFH.
I’ve never been in operations in another industry, but I imagine if you were in a hospital the salary would be a lot higher but way more stressful.
Have a friend try to find the job with only knowing the industry title for the position, in this case likely "personal assistant Berlin nh" sounds right.
You're right, that's a pretty sweet set up! I think the hiring manager may still want to come up a bit if my advice below doesn't work.
I would say mess around with the title on job boards like indeed. If you're not seeing applicant flow it's likely that your buried. The population of the north country doesn't lend itself in that capacity though. I would suggest specifying frequency of travel as well as distance.
It's a tough market for both recruiters and the recruited right now.
I own a software co. in NH. You better double your salary.

Is this entry level stuff with training? Recently moved here from Ca. & looking to get into a new trade.
I’ve been looking around a bit & although theres plenty of jobs its either low paying warehouse gigs or anything over 50k a year you need a degree. Not much in between here.

Firstly. Where is the main office located? Secondly. What is the salary being offered and what is required?. Any jobs that require advanced degrees are often more suited towards city people. A lot of rural like myself do more hands on work. New hampshire is a strange state because the available pool often has "just enough" knowledge to get by for most jobs. Perhaps seek out a tech agency that can help find specific candidates.
