Don’t expect a single thing, that way you wont be disappointed.

Although I am sure they will find a way to embarrass us and humiliate themselves.

My thoughts exactly, but you presented them much more politely than I was going to.

Oh, expect them to talk about it, don't expect that anything will happen. I do agree with your second sentence though smh

Hopefully less far right buffoonery, you know, like votes to leave the union.

The GOP will continue to try and dismantle public education.

Why do you want an uneducated populace?

Queasy_Turnover t1_j2wykpg wrote

They want everyone to be on their level so they can feel smart.

Hey not all republicans are uneducated, some have to run things. They want the rest of them to be uneducated so they keep voting hard R.

We want a better educated populace. Dumping more tax money into a failing system doesn't accomplish that goal. It's time to actually fix the problems.

Does the GOP have a plan in place for repairing the failing education system? I've never actually looked into what they want to do outside of continually stripping funding for public education.

But I feel as though paying teachers more money, hiring more teachers and shrinking class sizes would help significantly to start.

What if fixing the problems means removing the republicans that are currently ruing the education system?

If you think our education system is sufficiently funded when teacher pay abysmal, you're delusional. It's the worst it has ever been.

Huh, I didn't realize underpaid teachers and the most expensive state school in the US weren't problems. I guess the rest of the issues can be solved with hopes and dreams too

What to actually expect from lawmakers in 2023: Grandstanding, grumbling, and nothing of meaning.

I expect clueless old people with an average age of 92 to pass laws no one wants or understand, like making it illegal to use a thimble not made in NH.

I expect they'll vote themselves a big pay raise that costs you and me millions of dollars, which they will pocket, and do nothing in return.

mmirate t1_j34p24q wrote

Actually, that pay raise, like any CACR, will then go to the next state ballot, only taking effect with a 2/3rds majority. So, they'll vote themselves to ask the voters for a big pay raise, but the voters won't necessarily say "yes".
