Might be a little north for you - 20-30 mins away.
There's also Pillsbury State Park & State Reservation in Washington.
Tons of natural stuff in a 30-60 min radius from Nelson.
dude it is such a warm winter though, Like It feels like spring its scary, I live on the water on cape cod and it does not feel right, Feel like the earth is dying ;(
It'll get cold.
Yeah, its shocking for the end of Jan right now
its 55 degrees right now here
Sweet, Ill check it out, Im moving here until may, its a tiny house on lake granite and he airbnbs during the summer, Im paying 1250 a month all utilities included, looking forward to skiing bc I really like Wachuesett sunapee and pats peak
Going skiing mid-week is 100000000000x more pleasant than attempting to squeeze in on the weekends. If possible.
Yeah true, My schedule is open, The best is morning passes during the weekday, When the snow is still good and not icy and theres no lines, It is kinda nuts its like $60 for a 4 hour lift ticket
Granite Gorge (about 10 min toward keene from Nelson) is also reopening. Lift isn’t open yet but that would be a much closer option.
I think I know what place your probably staying at, near the old Munsonville post office. I’ve stayed in a “school year lease” rental twice on Granite, it’s an awesome lake! I loved it because I’m a big ice fisherman and Granite has lake and rainbow trout. I would put traps out and sit in my living room watching tv.
You have the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway trail go right by the north end of the lake. Going South takes you into Nelson and eventually Mt Monadnock, North to Washington and eventually Mt Sunapee. There’s a guide you can probably find at Toadstool books in Keene or Peterborough
I second Willard Pond, and bald mountain next to it. Also Mt Skatutakee and the Harris Center trails in Hancock. Pitcher Mt is cool, you could actually walk there and back right from your door on the Greenway, with a waterfall on the way.
I recommend this book, it’s about a hermit that lived off the end of Aten Rd on the back side of the lake
Fuck yeah bro, I clean up the island on Granite Lake funny enough. I know that piece of land inside out. Even have a stash out on it.
