Congratulations to Paul and a huge thanks for turning it over to someone who plans to keep it rocking.
"In an interview Thursday, Patrick Meyer promised repeatedly that he and his partners plan to continue, not upscale or water down, Cafe 9 as patrons currently recognize it.
The name stays. The same kind of music stays, including all booked shows.
“We’re going to keep it weird. We’re going to keep it local,” Meyer promised. “It’s not going to become a gastropub.” "

I'm glad they're keeping cafe 9 as is, I go there 2-6 times a month for shows. That's too bad about State House.

Man State house has been doing a good thing. Hope they find a spot close to the community that works for them.

Sucks about state house. For all the talent here there are like no open mics besides stellas and very few places for up and coming original music to get a chance. With the amount of creatives I know who live around here, you'd think there would be little venues all over.

Looking at you, Three Sheets

They got rid of all the bartenders

So what? It’s their choice. Service needed help there anyway. This could be better. Instead of waiting 15 minutes for a bottled beer you may be able to actually watch the bands and enjoy yourself instead of being blatantly ignored.

Never had that issue.

I’d hardly call three sheets a gastropub. It’s a great local (and locally owned) bar!

i think sheets played it’s first show a few weeks ago since before lockdown. they’re probably referencing the fact they used to be a huge local venue before this.

Meh. They took out the sound system and don't do shows anymore and the food used to be like super vegetarian-friendly and it kinda is now but idk since the reno I just don't feel the same about it
ymmv

Yeah a friend of mine lost her job there :(
I get why -- to save money (the co owners currently tend bar so they can do it themselves) -- but it still sucks
Fun-Cockroach8339 t1_jdhpuyi wrote
Maybe. Gastropub makes me think of some upscale place, which def isn’t three sheets.

I know they’ve had a lot of turnover in the kitchen staff since the pandemic but I always find it an unpretentious, easy going place to have some drinks.

Didn't know that bartenders were paid to watch / enjoy a comedy show. Probably just trying to make it through their busy shift. I've always had great and attentive service at the bar, sure, you're not going to have them ask you about your life story, but the bar is always packed and they get your drinks to you in a reasonable time.

Thankful for the Cafe 9 news and I will need to mourn after the State House closes.
