Hi, I recently purchased a car in New Jersey. The seller correctly signed the seller spot on the back of the title, but didn’t fill in the odometer or buyer info.
As the buyer, am I free to fill this information out?

Thank you. Now, I realize there is a typo in the vin on the bill of sale, also the mileage isn’t listed. Is this something I can fix without poking the seller?

The title is all the DMV cares about. As long as there are no corrections/cross outs on the title you should be fine. You don’t need to present the bill of sale at the DMV.

Yes, also read carefully and don't check the box saying the odometer went over 0. I did this when taking over one of my parents cars.

That’s a good point. the car currently has that indicated on the title but I believe the odometer couldn’t be read at the time due to pixel failure. Otherwise, the mileage hasn’t done anything funny like going backwards etc. I’m not going to check the box, do you know if the “exceeded mechanical limits” part will go away?

If it's already on the title, then likely no, that's what I was told. Worth asking thought.
