“How long is a piece of string?”

It depends.

Both have everything from dirt-cheap to insanely expensive.

There are MANY trailer/manufactured home parks all over Monmouth and ocean counties. The newer ones (no actual mobile homes, just manufactured ones) are quite nice options for people looking for a cheap place to live with relatively fixed costs… but this poster is looking for apartments?

Excluding the immediate shore adjacent towns, Ocean is probably cheaper. But if can also feel more congested in the areas of Brick to Toms River. Much older demographic too.

As many have said prices vary throughout both counties. However in general Ocean County is cheaper.

I grew up in southern coastal Monmouth county, lived there for 25 years. When I bought my own home I had to move to northern coastal ocean county to afford a house. But, both counties are quite large and you’ll find pockets of expensive and inexpensive. The towns closest to the beach will of course be more expensive. Also, what is considered expensive is dependent on the person too.

Ocean for sure unless you’re near the beach where it can be a toss up.

Ocean is generally cheaper, but where are you commuting to? If you WFH, I would definitely consider Ocean County. Be selective about your community, some of the schools are excellent, others not so much.

Gas and tolls can eat up any savings you may capture living in OC and time spent on the parkway is rarely time enjoyed.

Well it's been awhile since I've been in bed since New Jersey. From my app or filter.com checking it out for both errors it all depends on your way of living. Ocean county is pretty fair price but you still will have to pay for something more than other parts of the state. Monmouth county is always a great county just a little bit more pressure depending on location too. My grandparents lived in Monmouth county and love the area. What personal thing is both areas are good have a lot to offer just to question on how much you're willing to spend how far are you willing to drive to a job and what exactly do you want to do in your free time.
