EZ-Pass express lanes are the ultimate twofer. Remove the tollbooth so you don’t pay the attendant while also having higher tolls seem less conspicuous. People just drive through and later wonder why they have to top off their balance more often.

tolls suck but there's a reason that the turnpike and parkway are two of the best maintained roads in the state that have actually delivered real improvements in terms of adding lanes, exits, and other projects all without having to touch a dime of the money in the transportation trust fund.
