Honestly I'm not surprised with how expensive cars and medical expenses are nowadays. Imagine hitting a 100k car and you only have $15k liability?

I got hit by a car crossing the street two years ago. I was a pedestrian with the light. They only paid out the minimum $15K per policy. A lifetime of trauma and because of low limits I'm barely compensated. There's nothing scarier than the fire lane at a Shop Rite now.

The state really needs to raise the minimum liability amount.
It is not that much more expensive to move to a 100\300 plan from the pitifully low minimum limits, and people fuck themselves financially in the long term because they think they can save a few bucks today.
You will spend the next 20 years with garnishments\etc if you carry minimum insurance and get into an accident with even a modest newer car these days.

The people with the minimum liability plans are usually poor anyways and don’t have any money that could be taken from them in a crash.

Regardless of how much they end up paying back, they will end up with a judgement against them (destroying their credit), bank accounts and paychecks garnished, etc.

It's like trying to squeeze blood from a stone. They have nothing to take. And then they get right back on the road and do it again to the next person. Shitbags.
I had this happen to my wife a few years ago.
