I used to work in claims for State Farm, we were always told that if someone was driving for Uber/Lyft/etc. it was essentially the companyโs insurance that would cover it. Iโm sure that would apply here. If the culprits ever get caught, that insurance company will probably sue them for damages.

Iโm pretty sure my auto insurance excludes coverage when my car is used for any commercial activity (or when it leaves the US)

Yeah that tracks. I canโt say specifics as these type of claims would go elsewhere in the company to handle.

There is an optional Injury Protection insurance for like 0.10$ a trip. Would probably cover an instance like this, but only if the attack happened while on a trip.
