Uber and all rideshare companies aggressively makes it a point to deprive anyone who works for them of any sort of coverage for anything whatsoever.

I used to work in claims for State Farm, we were always told that if someone was driving for Uber/Lyft/etc. it was essentially the companyโ€™s insurance that would cover it. Iโ€™m sure that would apply here. If the culprits ever get caught, that insurance company will probably sue them for damages.

Iโ€™m pretty sure my auto insurance excludes coverage when my car is used for any commercial activity (or when it leaves the US)

There is an optional Injury Protection insurance for like 0.10$ a trip. Would probably cover an instance like this, but only if the attack happened while on a trip.
