You're a hero for staying.

Thank you, but Harper saved all of us. I’m just a prison guard, I suppose.

I don't think many people would stay. It's good that you have power over the Exacter.

That’s kind of you. Thank you. I always keep a cup of coffee on the table and watch YouTube videos to stay awake.

But, doesn’t watching YouTube take your eyes off the paintings and allow their spirits to roam around?

As said, it’s about regular observance, not unwavering observance. Otherwise, I’d have to make sure I never blink and somehow look at every single painting simultaneously.

Sounds like they just need to be glanced at periodically to remind them someone is paying attention. The canvas seems like a dual purpose prison and also a shelter from the pain of eyes gazing upon it.

Maybe, but you deserve a raise! And Miss Andrews should totally have stayed the first night. I hope you have a back-up guard (that maybe you trained properly) so you can have time off.

I was furious at Miss Andrews, but she claimed that she was merely “testing” me. She said that it takes the right kind of person to protect humanity. Too right. I wouldn’t want to place our lives in her hands. She’s insane.

Yeah, "Testing" someone in a way that can cause PTSD or pure insanity is a Bad Thing!

Not to mention testing someone in a way that could, you know, destroy the world.

Not to mention, not to mention; Why didn't the Exactor get out and do Its Thang when the last guard was there?

Hmm, so, if you were to watch it through a camera, would that be enough, or is The Exactor just ridiculously shy?

It’s tough to say if it would stop it from leaving, but it sounds like you would have to be there to make it return to its painting.

I was wholeheartedly expecting Harper to be one of the issues, not the helper in this situation. Can’t wait to hear more of your shifts, if anything else exciting happens

There have been other incidents over the past two years. And I can’t keep a lid on things forever. I fear what the future holds.

Two years you started this job? Time to ask for a pretty hefty raise… maybe you won’t need to work the day shift anymore.
