NIMBYism isn't just about buildings, or about housing or whatever you think it is. It's about resistance to changing the city and our built environment at all.

First time I heard the word NIMBY it was in reference to people opposed to a walking path through some wildish land because of "environmental concerns" (oddly enough, only people who had a view were opposed).
