Those places have a WILDLY different vibe than the places in the city. If you don't like the places you listed in your original post, then likely your friends don't like the bars in Brooklyn you like. Nearly everyone in Bushwick and Williamsburg is also a transplant. But the bottom line is not everyone wants to hang out in a semi-dive like Johnson's or Rocka Rolla. You're comparing apples to oranges and then looking down on people for not sharing your tastes.

You are comparing them because you're looking for a, dare I say, derogatory term.
They're fucking college bars and they exist in every city from here to Thailand. Get off your high horse.

Jeez. It’s not meant to be that deep. And I used that in a joking manner.

I know, the absolute nerve of people going to college bars that aren't still in college. Next thing you know, you'll find out people who aren't poor go to dive bars. What is the fucking world coming to?
And you weren't being funny or light-hearted. You were describing the bars and the people that went there very condescendingly. You're now realizing that no one in NYC cares about being as judgemental as you and are pivoting. Poorly.
Just walk away, man.
