Seattle. Not a grid. Not flat. Not intense. Not humid as we know it. Sports fans are OK, but somehow aloof.

I agree with this one. As far as overall vibe of the people goes Seattle and Philly are night and day, respectively.

Was just there last weekend and totally agree. Plus, the racial demographics are very loosely flipped (Philly is ~40% white, Seattle is ~68% white)

LA.

Can't walk anywhere, always nice outside, everyone is fake, no culture

>no culture

Los Angeles was founded by Spanish explorers in 1542.

It produces almost all the movies, music and TV shows you consume. It has a population of 4 million, where 1 in 6 people work in a creative field.

It has a downtown, beaches and a subway. The Getty Museum. The largest port and manufacturing center in America. The sports teams have won an embarrassing amount of championships at every level: more NCAA champions, more Super Bowls, more Stanley Cups, more World Series, more NBA championships and MLS cups than Philly.

But sure, no culture.

I lived there 2 years, whatever they are passing as culture is plastic fantastic bullshit unless you're in Koreatown or a Mexican neighborhood

That's most of Los Angeles.

DrJawn t1_ivy1b1p wrote

Yeah but it's not LA culture, it's Mexican culture. LA is a mix of American Graffiti, Guns and Roses, and Requiem for a Dream

Question was which city is the opposite of Philly, I stick by my story

Los Angeles was part of Mexico, how can it not be part of the culture?

The same way the Lenape culture is not part of eating cheesesteaks, throwing batteries at Santa, and climbing greased poles

If you've ever eaten corn or turkey, drank a pumpkin spice latte, or smoked tobacco, you can thank a Lenape

Climbing greased poles is Italian culture, Santa is German culture. I'm still missing your point.

From my experience Sacramento.

Food sucks, deli selection anywhere is minimal at best, except Corti Bros.

Bike friendly and even laws in place that really protect cyclists, hit a cyclist and that's your ass

It's dry af and the sun shines 10xs brighter.

Unaffordable

Natives are entitled and were raised very sheltered

I came here to say Sac all the way. I grew up in Philly and have in lived in Sac for 10+ years. I could no longer handle Philly winters. Now I get upset when it's below 60 in December. But what I would give for a real soft pretzel...

I was on that Miami thread. IMHO, Miami is the opposite of Philly. I miss being able to walk and having conveniences down the block. I miss just the general sense of normalcy without being flashy.
