Ask families in your community. Ask your kid what they want to do.

We did dance class at a rec center. They also offer gymnastics and archery. Some have singing/acting/drama/art classes. We found our Girl Scout troop through school. We're lucky that our school has a good amount of extracurriculars, so all are through there now.

As a single mom, I just tried to find the most affordable version of what it was she wanted to do. I used Google and asked on Facebook (both my own network and in neighborhood groups).

Talk to other parents at school. Preferably parents of your kid’s friends so that they can go together.

Check your neighborhood (general or parent focused) Facebook group. We’ve gotten a lot of leads on activities from the South Silly Facebook group (parent/family focused) for things in South Philly.

And check the Rec centers outside your neighborhood as they all have something different to offer.
