Hi! I’ve never been to Pittsburgh before but have a trip planned this summer for a concert at Arcrisure Stadium.

My husband will be dropping us off and picking us up- SO, we need help on where the best drop off/pick up spot will be. We can walk to and from the stadium from there. Any ideas??

We will also be staying outside of the city near the Pittsburgh Airport. Any idea on which routes will be best when considering heavy concert traffic?

THANK YOU!

You can absolutely have him drive to walking distance to the stadium. And then wait in traffic for an hour like almost everyone else does. Know that this is the plan for thousands and thousands of people. But this is insanity. You can do better.

Please use our public transport. There’s a free newish subway station connected to the stadium. It will be filled with concert goers (not scary) and will have very frequent trains (beyond what online says) to pick them up when the concert ends.

This is the end of the line. So you can’t go the wrong way. Just get on a train!

If you’re going toward the airport, ride this train (for free) to the 1st avenue station. Have your husband wait on the street or in the parking garage near this station. When you arrive, turn left on grant street and follow the ramp for 376W. Within seconds you’ll be on 376W heading for the airport and will have to go through the fort Pitt tunnel, but will be coming from the opposite direction as everyone else and will be in the correct lanes for it without needing to merge. Should be almost no wait driving this route.

Or you could travel 2-4 more stops (beyond the free fare zone but who cares no one will notice in the concert crowd) and the subway will take its own tunnel and get you beyond the tunnel entirely. But this will probably take longer.

My other secret (better for people going north) is to wait on the street on arch street next to the aviary. Then drive down the newly reopened merchant street underpass when the walkers near the red lot 7A and 7B on martingdale. Pick them up at this road or the light with reedsdale. Turn left on reedsdale. Go 1 block and follow the HOV lane for 279 north. And you’re whisked out of the north side. This could also work for OP but you’d want to them exit on Camp Horne road and take mount nebo road to 79 south heading for the airport

Honestly, as far from the stadium as possible.

It might be advantageous to have your husband drop you off at Station Square or near the other stadium (ppg paints arena. Which is within the free fare zone and you don’t have to pay to ride)

From there you can hop on the light rail, the t, and go to the concert. Hop the train back to your original stop and get picked up by your husband there.

Station square is not in the free zone but the other stops are. I think that is what you meant but just wanted to clarify for op.

Yeah, I tried to do it when I put it all in parentheses. But I can understand re-reading it it is a little confusing.

It's all a good idea. Once you get across the bridges to downtown the traffic won't be bad at all.

a walk from station square to Heinz field is probably 20-30 min. Not a bad walk at all.

They gateway clipper usually runs a boat shuttle from Station Square to Heinz Field. I think its around $10 pp

Absolutely NOT the casino. Assuming this is Taylor Swift it was an absolute disaster last time getting an Uber. Def take the T as far away as you can.

As a non T rider going to Taylor Swift, it’s projected her concert gets done at 11:15…does the T come frequently downtown that late at night?

As for your route, I live by the airport & find it's a much more pleasant drive to take rt. 65 Ohio river boulevard into the city. It might be a little longer but factoring in concert traffic I would bet you will get down there faster.

I go to a LOT of concerts downtown. Traffic out of arena shows is a nightmare. I recommend everyone park at a t stop (t is more reliable than the bus) and just take the t down. It costs a few bucks, sure, but cheaper than downtown parking and burning gas sitting there

Get dropped off at the downtown T station and ride the T. It lets you off right across from a gate in

Is your hotel in Robinson, moon or the actual airport?

The easiest way is to take 376 directly into the city. 376 should be close to your hotel and it basically a straight shot, right before you get to the station you have to go through the fort Pitt tunnel- be prepared to set in traffic there. I would recommend having your husband drop you off as early as possible and hit up one of the restaurants close to the stadium.

Just start walking north on either Brighton or Allegheny and find a spot to meet up from there

Hell, I still call it the Sears Tower. But would you tell someone from out of town to stop using the current name? That's pretty ridiculous.

I call it "Corporation That Moved Ten Thousands Jobs Out Of Pittsburgh Field", but "Heinz" works too if you don't like Acrisure.
