Ok, I'm officially old

Pretty sure today was like the first time in my life that I don't get asked for ID when buying alcohol in the US.

For reference, I'm a 31yo man but pretty much everyone guesses under 30. I went to the Hofbräuhaus on Southside and ordered like 50 ounces of beer without so much as a glimpse at my ID.

You know what, I'm just gonna chalk it up to them being a German restaurant, since the drinking age in Germany is 16.

P.S. for the history buffs out there, if you ever go to Munich, make sure you check out the original Hofbräuhaus. That was one of the places Hitler and the rest of what would become the Nazi Party would meet and strategize, years before they actually rose to power. Try to eat dinner there, after having spent the day at Dachau.

I turn 32 in like 3 weeks, so I understand what you're going through. I have a face that definitely looks younger than what you would think of with a 32-year-old as well.

Try to eat dinner anywhere after visiting Dachau. Visited 13 years ago and was physically ill, but I’d recommend that anyone in the area visit.

Not the best sales pitch, but yes, anyone will become a better person after spending the day there.

I'm 32 and my hair is starting to thin, I still get carded everywhere I go. I understand they do it for liability reasons, but how much more hair do I need to lose before they stop?

Though it is nice that the gun store salespeople know me well enough and stopped asking 🤣

Why do people complain about their age knowing that there’s many older people on here? If you want to say you’re old, talk about it with your peers .

I think most places policies are 30+ looking, no need to ID.

I typically get carded when I am wearing not my regular clothes and then start to second guess if I’m not dressing my age🤷‍♂️.

I had the same thing happen around 31 (now 32).

My mom recently volunteered to work an event and was assigned the beer selling section. She was told she HAD to card EVERYONE no matter what. Cut to her carding an 80 year old dude who she said got very annoyed about it, understandably so. She felt so bad. Damn antiquated rules

You're going to have a far worse hurdle. Eventually, you will get to the point where you aren't getting carded anywhere. Then, all the sudden, you'll get carded and you'll think, "Hey, at least this person thinks I have it!"

Then you'll realize they have a policy of carding literally everyone. Then you'll hit a new horizon of oldness.

Strangest thing since I first turned 21, I only have been carded buying from the liquor store about 20% of the time. Even the first bottle I ever bought a few days after my 21st, i was all ready to pull out my id and didn’t even get carded. Kind of a let down. I also looked really damn young until I grew a beard out around 26/27.
