Moved here from Ohio about 4 years ago. I've done 3 elections now in Castle Shannon. Every time I have to show photo ID at the front when they look up my name in the their book. I'm the only person on the page with "ID Required" under their name. It's not a huge issue, but just curious as to why? Especially since PA doesn't have voter ID laws. I have a PA Driver's license of course.

Should go away after the first time you vote

At the Borough Building?

I vote in Castle Shannon as well, and I didn’t need to show my ID.

Why not ask them while you're there? If it's their note that you need ID then they probably know why. Did you report your ID stolen maybe years ago? Maybe because you moved, you need to show once.

Gotta ask one of the old lady's there. They've probably been doing it for decades. In fact my mother-in-law did it for years. She just stopped last year as it was too much and long of a day for her now. I'll ask her.

You only have to show ID if it’s the first time you voted at that precinct.

Hmm, maybe there is a glitch. I 100% voted at the same location in 2020. I still remember the plexiglass and masks dealio. I guess if I have to show ID again in 2 years i'll call the election office.

It's probably some bad data in their system not getting cleared, like you're in the database as a first time voter.

A coworker of mine got turned away twice today because they have his SSN tied to someone in Washington County (He's in Allegheny). Had to call the Allegheny County voting office and got it fixed in short order.

If you already brought your ID and voted, I'd probably give it a week or so before calling because they're going to be busier than the Zoo on Mothers/Fathers Day

Contact the County Elections office in a couple weeks to get it straightened out for next year. Don’t do it now because they’re obviously swamped but clearly the note back to them that your ID has been check “for the first time” isn’t connecting.

As a note, no matter what reason is given to you, you can always request a provisional ballot. Nobody gets turned away without being able to vote even if it's clear-cut they shouldn't.

You dont even have to show photo ID the first time you vote in a new district. You have to show A form of identification. You can use your voter registration card, and there may be other IDs you can use.
