If she likes sushi and/or gin: Gi-Jin has the best sushi I've ever had in Pittsburgh and was an excellent experience.

There's also Meat & Potatoes, Gaucho, & Con Alma (though that is more drinks & music).

Tako, next door to Gi-Jin, is also a great choice, if you prefer tacos

Hard agree. They have the best carnitas of any place I've tried in Pittsburgh.

Nice food but last time we went it was pitch black. I like going in the warmer months where you can sit outside while you enjoy the guacamole.

Regarding gi-jin, have you ever been/how does it compare to the sushi at Kiku?

I've never been but I'm happy to add a new place to try to my list!

Yeah Kiku is pretty decent. I've never had gi-jin and my partner and I couldn't make the reservation we snagged. Gauging some feels to justify a reattempt.

I'd definitely say Gi-Jin goes beyond "pretty decent." We ate there in February and still reminisce about it regularly; our schedules just haven't given us a chance to go back since reservations are definitely required and weekends are impossible to get.

Seeing that Kiku does omakase makes me want to check it out!

I just took my wife to the commoner for thanksgiving and we had a really good meal.

Get a reservation for Poulet Bleu ASAP. Fig and Ash was a nice atmosphere but the food was lacking in quality for the price imo. The vandal is a good backup plan, if you want quality that’s between the two.

I second Poulet Bleu. Romantic bistro atmosphere, great food and wonderful service.

They're great for special occasions. I took my girl there to celebrate a graduation and they made a big deal of it with a congrats dessert and everything.

Monterey Bay on Mt. Washington if you're looking to impress. Also tell them it's your anniversary and they will hook you up with a special dessert

Eddie Merlot's or Capital Grille are popular. Personally, I'd rather get dinner somewhere like Gaucho or Tako, then go to Bridges & Bourbon for drinks (or vice versa). You can also reserve one of B&B's outdoor heated tents (a BridgeHouse) and just do dinner and drinks there.

Eddie Merlot's. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the service and meal will be worth it.
