We did a tasting cake for the two of us, fancy cupcakes for each person, and a cookie table as well. Everyone liked it and it’s probably doable In The timeframe

Point breeze can be pretty quiet, especially south of Dallas Ave

Could also try the housing development (maybe it’s called summerset?) that’s on the opposite bank of the mon from the waterfront

Im pretty sure there isn’t a local specialist shop. The science center sells some small ones I believe, but you’re much better going online (Celestron and Meade are two popular brands). r/telescopes can help you choose one. There’s also star parties run by the amateur astronomy association of Pittsburgh where you can look through theirs, and the science center used to do a similar event pre-pandemic .

I’ve done a similar trip several times. Flying to Boston is really easy; you’ll probably have to go to south station if you want to take a bus. So any hotel along the subway line that goes to south station should work.
