Never had to pay a dime under basic dental insurance. And they did panoramic for free on first visit in addition to X-rays just so they didn’t miss something with wisdom teeth. Most insurances cover biannual cleaning and annual X-rays.

I’ve tried 3. Dentists at Shadyside Place tell everyone they need a bite guard and a bone graft. Don’t go there. I actually skipped going to the dentist for 5+ yrs after this place.

So far, I’ve been using Polished Dental in Morningside and have nothing but good things to say. They haven’t pushed one thing on me and I keep going back for regular cleanings which is a really good sign for me.

Pretty sure holistic dentists still use X-rays. You need X-rays to look for voids in teeth which indicate cavities. They could poke each tooth but could still miss things based on visual inspection.

It wouldn’t be Pittsburgh without such occurrences. Waking up to work crews is the norm. Once had PWSA run into my car with a bulldozer after I asked multiple times if it needed to be moved. They also crushed my sewer line and fixed it with a metal cap.

Sent your standards at rock bottom and you’ll always feel lucky. You could rephrase this problem as thank god they notified us at all, even if late.

Glad you found them! Highland Park has 2 circles that surround it but you have to drive into the park proper off of N Highland Ave to drive around Reservoir Drive. The activities are interspersed between shelters.

Reservoir Dr can be easily mistaken for Lake Drive, which surrounds the park in whole, not just the reservoir. Lake Dr loop has a stocked pond, dog park and swimming facilities but does not require you to enter the park to access. You want Reservoir Dr. Just type in 120 Reservoir Dr on GPS, it’ll take you to the first activity.

Harvard Yale Princeton (HYP) Club accepts members who didn’t even graduate from said universities. Had to consolidate given the lack of Pittsburgh dwelling alumni. They’ll take anyone’s money. It’s pretty nice. It’s got that whole rich Mahogany vibe going for it.

Seconding Highland Park. They have a set on the reservoir drive circle. Also Riverview Trail in Frick Park using the entrance off of Beechwood where Blue Slide Playground is.

Lou Iezzi and Sons is where I’ve gotten inspections and had most, if not all, of my body work done when needed. Local shop run by Iezzi family. Never had issues with them trying to upsell.

In a bind, I once went to Mellon Street Garage and that was fine too but just a smaller, nondescript shop. Also no upsells.

Traffic here is gloriously wonderful compared to other cities. It gets congested around rush hour but it’s tolerable. Most traffic is caused by construction more than volume or lack of thruways.

Tons of grocery stores. If you go during a Steelers game, you’ll be one of a few souls shopping. We have Aldi, TJ, WF, Giant has Giant Eagle and Market District and Shop N Save. No Wegmans, Safeway, Kroger, Harris Teeter. Giant Eagle has a monopoly here.

We have a Shell cracker plant to the west and Clairton coke plant to the south. They emit a lot of air pollutants and aren’t tightly regulated. Makes the air smell like industrial sulfur. You can find a lot about it on this sub by searching if you’re interested. There has been tons on it the last few months.

But it is the only thing I really have bad to say about Pittsburgh. Our roads are shite and full of potholes (and sometimes sinkholes) but I don’t mind rally karting around. They are working on this since Fern Hollow bridge collapsed.

You need to find where your risers and pipes run. Whatever wall they run up through, put space heater next to the wall preferably at the level or below where they are frozen. If you have direct access to pipes through a panel then a hairdryer directly on to the pipe works well. It was still freezing last night so unless your walls have incredible insulation then they could still be frozen. I had to heat my house up to 70 with multiple sources of supplemental heat to thaw my pipes. It took about 2 hours for water to start running again. I had a whole floor without water as well.

Vibe is just a free for all in a loving, giving community. Everyone helping everyone else be their happiest. I went over a decade ago. If you need something, people go out of their way to make it happen in the most unordinary, creative ways. With time, you get better at gifting but gifting in the desert might be different than gifting in a tundra. I handed out bandanas people could wrap around their face when in the desert but most people provide a service or some sort of feel good activity. Food, water and heat are always good gifts. If you play music or DJ, people dig that too. It’s just all about being one with the community and bringing whatever you want to the table. Quite liberating if you have a strong sense of self that must align with societal majority.

Mine is through homeowners and sewage line had to be scoped before being added to policy.

Had to use insurance when drain got clogged from roots since we have a clay pipe. Had it cleared and lined with some gutter rerouting which was covered by insurance. Insurance co used was Erie. No issues.

There is a designated area for RV parking. Never been to Frostburn but it’s this way at BM. Look at the Frostburn survival guide. They say RVs are allowed at FB buy there is no electrical, water or sewer hookup. Looks interesting.

FYI… it’s in WV at Marvin’s Mountaintop, not Maryland. Huge difference in climate and travel needs between these 2 locations.

Presby is more of a catch all (esp subspecialty patients) with some really complex patients that rotate in and out like it’s a second home at times. Most docs will send their patients to Presby for any and all emergencies before Mercy. Still see similar patient landscape at Mercy. Not a good or bad thing. I just prefer more turnaround which Mercy might offer.
