Just want to check in and see if anyone was able to fill up their car’s tires since the winter chill. Tried two places yesterday and the machines were out of order. Getgo on 40th st./Butler and Valero in Northside.
Maybe I just had bad luck with my two picks, but I’d like to make sure I drive to a working machine!

If you don't have one in each car, at least have one at the house.
Living in Pittsburgh I would highly recommend any vehicle owner to purchase a portable tire inflator and keep it in their car. They can be found for cheap on Amazon and are way more convenient.
The Sheetz on Babcock Blvd/Cemetery Lane in Ross worked- the line was at least 8 cars deep yesterday though!
There’s one in a parking garage in the Strip on 28th street that’s functional.
Def agree with everyone else though. I have a little ryobi one that is in the same batter system as some power tools I have, and it’s probably what I use the most.

I gave up and bought a small pump from harbor freight that plugs into the 12v for $12 . Excellent !
GetGo on Baum worked fine yesterday.
They make some that work with drill batteries which can be convenient. I think my Ryobi one ran me 70$ and that’s the dual mode with a low pressure (for things like air mattresses or pool toys) in addition to the the high pressure one. I think the single mode high pressure one is 25$.
Compressor at GetGo at Murray & Forward, but it's very hit-or-miss in terms of being in service.
Got a Fanttik Apix for portable use and generally happy.
I recommend going above and beyond and buying a jumper pack with a compressor. I have one from Costco that has the battery pack charger, jump kit, compressor, and USB power bank.

This. It’s crazy to me that not everyone has a portable air pump. Plus a hat, warm coat, and gloves in the trunk during winter. That’s why some people survive and other don’t!

Ditto on this. I thought it was going to be a $30 toy but it turned out to be one of the best purchases for my car I've made.
GetGo on Freeport has 1 of 2 machines working, was 5 deep when I needed it Monday night. The BP on Fox Chapel rd was working. The machine at the gas station by the zoo was "working" in that it took my money and made a hissing noise, but after trying it on both front tires they both went from 26psi to 16 and 10 psi so ymmv. That's what sent me back over the bridge to the BP.

The Kobalt one from Lowe's is great. I think I paid $50 or $60 for one probably 5 years ago. It's small, electric, light-weight, and fills up tires really fast.
I actually have 2 tire inflators. One that is battery operated in my car and a plug in one I leave in my garage. This way I don't have to fill my tires in the cold.

7/11 in North Oakland was working the other day
Not to be a smartass but...I had a bicycle pump and an old-fashioned stick gauge. Kept the car in the garage where I was at least out of the wind. Took about 30 pumps on each tire to get from 25 to 32. Total about 20 minutes.

Yep. The little $60 Jayco one I bought on Amazon years ago is still going strong. More than paid for itself by now.

Buy a small pancake compressor with a tire valve
This right here. Having one of those saved my ass a couple of times with my old car. It turned what would’ve likely been an hour (or more) wait for a jump into a 5 minute inconvenience. Not to mention that it’s great that I don’t have to wait in line to fill my tires.

I picked up a ryobi air pump and it works well.
Getgo in shaler and Sheetz on rt 8 out that way we're both working in the last few days
