Lack of revenue. EGO is a business, after all. It's all about the $$.
I heard the queen that ran the show retired.
They have to wake up early next day to do the brunch shows
Given that banning drag shows are the thin edge of the political wedge that ends with "exterminate trans people," you'd expect a gay club to show some solidarity.
I don't have any inside knowledge, I just also saw this instagram post that says they fired the performers over text message so it seems like even the best case scenario is shitty.
If you read the posts from the queens, it looks like there was workplace drama between the talent and the management.
they fired two black trans drag artists that have been performing there for years over a text message without warning. management doesn't seem to see an issue with this. other drag artists now leaving as well, so no more drag nights.
Shocking! Lol
. . . . . .
But... what was the message though?
The post, despite obviously being some bias there, does make sense. Workplace drama and the commented claims about Ego fostering a work environment and clientele that allows for racism and transphobia. Ego was definitely not a welcoming place as a trans woman, even though I'm white, and can imagine the talent and such there every night saw and heard a lot worse.
The LGBT community as a whole has often struggled with this so the claims aren't exactly shocking.
Wasn’t EGO on the list from yesterday of clubs that might have their liquor and/or entertainment licenses revoked next week?
Sounds like they’ve got some problems on their hands.
Are the posts still up/where can we find them?

They all posted things about it around March 9th-10th.

Thank you!
Damn, y'all... Just wondering!
It's a bit of speculation. I was at the show that happened before they cancelled the subsequent shows, and the hosts of the evening were extremely late, like almost an hour late. Maybe they got fired because of that but I'm not sure.
In any event, its confirmed that 2 people were fired, other performers thought it was unfair and resigned out of solidarity with the fired. So they canceled the rest of the shows.
